Commissariat- Gestion de commande faite à un artiste | For the « Incontro » section of the 2012 Festival A-part, Claudio Parmiggiani has come up with a permanent piece in nature - « Luce, Luce, Luce » - at the Pierredon abbey, a private wine-growing estate at the heart of the Alpilles.
As part of the a-part festival, Claudio Parmiggiani was invited to meet the estate owners in order for him to work at this unique place.
And so there was a meeting with a place against a timeless, silent and furtive backdrop. From a small hill reminiscent of ancient architecture, the vision of a work suspended between earth and the heavens was born; an intangible apparition.
How can another dimension be reached except with a ladder stretching into the heavens evoking a small icon kept in the Sainte Catherine du Mont Sinaï monastery?
A poetic ladder « hanging from the sky, giving a glimpse of infinity’s end ».
