Mired Mediterranean

Contemporary Art | As part of the Marseille European Capital of Culture, the Mediterranean-themed exhibition organised by Juliette Laffon, Ici Ailleurs, brings together 39 artists from the Euro Mediterranean area, with creation arising from the intermingling of cultures. Four chapters define the purpose of this collection : 1) Journeys/exile/trips, 2) From past to present/the corresponding world, 3) Memory/transmission, 4) Journeys/from past to present/memory.
And from this space, the artistic approaches and the montage of the artists visions reveal a narrative field in the sinking of a collective memory. The history of the Mediterranean is drifting along in a state of repose without revealing its original source : verbs, writing, circulation, exploration, conquests.
