Contemporary Art | In line with Mexican mural artists who sought to speak to as many people as possible by taking over city façades (David Alfaro Siqueiros, Diego Rivera, José Clemente Orozco, etc.), Miguel Chevalier is dematerialising Grand Palais after dark during the Art Paris Art Fair 2014 with an opera entitled « L’origine du monde » (The origins of the world), based on a musical composition by Michel Redolfi. Broadcast for the first time on the façade of the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico, this production drew three million spectators in the streets and kick-started a dazzling career for the pioneer artist who has formed part of a very small circle of artist-researchers for more than 20 years. The digital design involving the development of new software, algorithms and considerable production methods is on the threshold of a new market, far removed from events.
