Piasa bets on content marketing
Contemporary Art | The house of Piasa has moved from Drouot to the rue du faubourg Saint-Honoré, only a few meters from Sotheby’s Paris. A new address and a striking new approach, with a team of young specialists like art critic Timothée Chaillou, named director of the contemporary art department. The catalogue for a sale of contemporary African art on 7/10/14 was conceived like the catalogue of an exhibition, curated by André Magnin, an expert on the subject. Priority has been giving to a content-based strategy joining history, synthesis and artist’s words to the spirit of the primary market, setting itself clearly apart from the catalogues of the major houses like Sotheby’s, Christie’s or Artcurial. This kind of concept could prove to be a material tool, aiding the buyer in the future online market.
